Mark Bushnell search: Body found on Blackhall Rocks beach
A body has been found on a beach close to where a missing boarding school teacher's car was found two weeks ago.
Mark Bushnell, deputy head at Durham School, left his home in Durham City on 9 March with some dirty laundry after the family's washing machine broke.
His car was later discovered in a cliff top car park at Blackhall, near Peterlee.
Durham Police said it appeared the body of a middle-aged man "had been in the water for some time".
A member of the public found the body at Blackhall Rocks at about 07:00 GMT, the force said.
A formal identification has not yet been carried out, but Mr Bushnell's family have been informed.
A search of the area by police, coastguards and mountain rescue teams ended on Monday.
Supt Bill Dutton said it had been a "really big search".
"Since Mark was reported missing there have been numerous people involved in the search," he said.
"It is a difficult terrain to search over - cliff faces, beaches, it's very windy here."
He added that the force had received an "overwhelming" amount of information from the public.
