Sexual assault in Middlesbrough leaves woman in hospital

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries following a sexual assault in Teesside, police have said.

She suffered a broken arm and serious facial injuries in the attack around 06:00 BST on Saturday on Borough Road in North Ormesby, Middlesbrough.

A member of the public came to the victim's aid and chased the suspect, who escaped on foot, it is believed.

Police described the attack as "particularly vicious" and are appealing for witnesses.
