Three fishermen were rescued after their boat was hit by a wave and began to sink off the north-east coast.

The 16ft boat got into trouble near Longscar Buoy, Hartlepool, about one mile from the shore, shortly after 13:00 BST on Sunday.

Both Hartlepool RNLI lifeboats were launched and the crews found the three men in the water, with one of them clinging to the buoy.

They were given oxygen and transferred to hospital by ambulance.
