A fire which badly damaged a Grade II-listed hotel in the North East was not started deliberately according to investigators.

The east wing of Crathorne Hall at Yarm was extensively damaged by the blaze last week.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire investigation is ongoing but we don't believe the cause to be deliberate."

About 100 firefighters dealt with the blaze.
