A driver led police on a chase with three children in his car before colliding with five vehicles, officers have said.

Police were attempting to stop a grey Vauxhall Vectra in Teesville at 08:50 BST on Wednesday amid concerns over the manner of its driving, when it made off at speed.

The car containing a male driver, female passenger and the children then collided with five vehicles.

It was later found abandoned.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "Police followed the vehicle for a short time before losing sight of it and it was later found abandoned on Balmor Road, having collided with five vehicles on Lime Road.

"No one was injured in the incident."

Police are appealing for information.
