Police investigating armed robberies at Teesside jewellery shops have made two more arrests.

Market Cross Jewellers in Yarm was targeted in November, with the Middlesbrough branch broken into in January.

Three men, of Manchester, were arrested in January on suspicion of robbery.

Cleveland Police said two further men, aged 24 and 27, were detained in the Stockton area on suspicion of the same offences, and have now been bailed.

The first robbery saw four men, wearing balaclavas and carrying what police described as bladed weapons, smash display cases at the Yarm branch.

They took cash and items including watches and diamonds worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.
