Dozens of chickens killed in Hartlepool blaze

Forty-five chickens have been killed in an arson attack that swept through allotments on Teesside.

Police said the arsonists struck just after 03:00 at the site in Thornhill Gardens, Hartlepool.

The blaze destroyed three allotments causing hundreds of pounds of damage, police said.

The chickens were kept in a shed on the site. Police are appealing for witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously to get in touch.
