Tributes have been paid to a "carefree" man who was killed in a crash in County Durham.

Wayne Seal died when his Ford Fiesta collided head-on with a Skoda Fabia on Lands Road in Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, at 00:25 BST on Sunday.

The 46-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Skoda was taken to hospital with spinal injuries.

Mr Seals' family said he would be sadly missed and remembered for his "outgoing" personality.

The driver and front seat passenger of the Skoda suffered minor injuries.
