Middlesbrough burglary death suspects charged with manslaughter

Two men have been charged with the manslaughter and robbery of a 50-year-old man who died after collapsing at a police station.

Laurence French went to the station in Middlesbrough to report a burglary at his Alwent Road home on 25 May. He died later in hospital.

The two men charged, aged 39 and 40, are due at Teesside Magistrates' Court.

Police previously arrested two other men, aged 42 and 66, but they have been released without charge.

Post-mortem results into the death of Mr French were not released by Cleveland Police who cited "operational reasons".
