Drunk driver jailed over critically injured woman crash
A drunk driver who left a woman with critical head injuries after crashing his car into a row of parked cars has been jailed for four years.
Lewis Heslop admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was driving a silver Hyundai when it hit several parked vehicles before striking the woman on Easson Road, Darlington, in June.
At Teesside Crown Court the 26-year-old was also banned from driving for six years.
Heslop, of no fixed abode, also admitted driving while disqualified, driving while over the alcohol limit and driving without insurance.
The sentence included three months for breaching a conditional discharge for drink driving which was issued by Darlington Magistrates' Court in February.
