Boy, six, hit by car on A66 in Middlesbrough breaks leg

A six-year-old boy suffered a fractured leg and facial injuries when he was hit by a car on the A66 in Middlesbrough.

The child was struck by a Peugeot 207 at about 16:10 BST on Saturday on the eastbound side about 164ft (50m) west of the North Ormesby slip road.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

Cleveland Police is appealing for witnesses including several drivers who stopped but are yet to speak to police.
