Work to stop Cramlington homes from flooding begins

Northumbrian Water is spending £400,000 to stop homes flooding in a Northumberland town.

The company will replace about of 620m (2,034ft) of sewer pipes in Lancastrian Road, Highburn, Cramlington.

During the work there will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights in the Highburn area.

The work, which is designed to protect about eight properties, begins on 21 July and will take about four months.
