Extra officers over summer for Tyneside village

Extra police will be on patrol in a Tyneside village as the summer season gets into full swing.

Officers from the Northumbria force will step up their presence in Tynemouth from Monday in an attempt to reduce crime and disorder.

The extra patrols will coincide with the start of the school holidays and officers will monitor beaches and shopping areas.

They will also keep an eye out for inconsiderate and speeding drivers.
