Autistic teenager hurt in North Tyneside street attack

Two men have been arrested after a teenager with autism was injured in a street attack on North Tyneside.

The 19-year-old victim was with his father in Malton Crescent, North Shields, early on Monday when they were approached by a group of men.

Police said the teenager was targeted and suffered serious facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

A Northumbria force spokesman said two men aged 20 and 21 were later arrested and were being questioned.
