Police van to 'message' Whitley Bay revellers

Drinkers in Whitley Bay are the target of a police safety campaign.

Northumbria Police's digital van will be driving round the town's busier areas displaying messages about personal safety and responsible drinking on Bank Holiday Monday.

Officers will also be stopping revellers asking them if they have booked a taxi home and handing them safety leaflets.

The campaign slogan is "Keys, money, phone, plans to get home?".
