Boy, 13, killed in road accident in Northumberland

A 13-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was in a collision with a car as he was cycling on a Northumberland road.

The crash, involving a Citroen C3 car, happened on the A68, half a mile north of Corbridge just after 1600 BST on Saturday.

The boy, who has not yet been named, was taken to Newcastle General Hospital where he later died.

The road was closed for two and a half hours while investigations took place.
