Police name South Shields lorry crash cyclist

A cyclist who died after a collision with a lorry in South Shields has been named by police.

George Le Blond, 50, from the Hebburn area, died at the scene of the incident in Western Approach on Friday at about 1330 BST.

Roads around the scene were closed and diversions were set up while the emergency services attended.

Motorists were told to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Police are appealing for witnesses.
