Machete threat to Gateshead bookmaker staff

Police on Tyneside are seeking two armed robbers who threatened staff at a bookmaker's shop.

The pair targeted Ladbrokes, on Front Street, Swalwell, Gateshead on the evening of 26 October.

They brandished a machete and a hammer and demanded cash, then left on foot with a small amount.

No-one was hurt, but officers described the incident as "traumatic" for the assistants and two customers, and have appealed for witnesses.
