Man sprays staff during robbery in Newcastle

A man robbed a bookmakers in Newcastle, spraying liquid through the counter at a member of staff.

The raid happened just after 1000 GMT at Ladbrokes in Ponteland Road, Cowgate.

The man demanded cash and sprayed the liquid before making off with money. No-one was injured during the incident.

Police said the man was riding an adult's pink-coloured mountain bike and came from the direction of the Four Acres estate nearby.

He made off on the same bike towards the Four Acres estate.

He is described as being around 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins tall, slim and wearing a dark hooded top with the hood pulled up.
