Six arrested after man stabbed in chest in Wallsend

Six men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing on Tyneside.

Officers were called to Churchill Street, Wallsend, on Friday night following reports of a disturbance.

A 23-year-old man had suffered a stab wound to his chest. He remains in hospital but no details of his condition have been released.

Northumbria Police confirmed that a number of weapons were recovered. The men being questioned are aged between 18 and 25.
