Woman dies in quad bike accident in Northumberland

A 21-year-old woman has died and a man was left seriously injured in a quad bike accident in Northumberland.

Lyndsay Young died at the scene of the crash near to the Sandy Bay Holiday Park in North Seaton, Ashington, Northumberland, on Sunday afternoon.

A 29-year-old man, who was airlifted to hospital, is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

A park spokesman said the crash was outside its boundaries and the pair involved had not been staying there.

Sgt Jason Ryder, of Northumbria Police, said: "We believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the collision.

"I'd appeal for anyone who was there and who may have seen anything to contact police."

Ms Young, from Ashington, was described by her family as "beautiful and spirited, funny and caring."

He father said in a statement: "She had so much to offer and so much to live for.

"Our memories of her are precious. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten."
