Nine charged after man stabbed in chest in Wallsend

Nine people have been charged with violent disorder following a stabbing on North Tyneside.

Officers were called to Churchill Street, Wallsend, on Friday night following reports of a disturbance.

A 23-year-old man had suffered a stab wound to his chest. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Three men, two aged 19 and one aged 20, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

The nine charged will appear at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court later.
