Pigeons die in Northumberland allotment break-in

Thieves killed 11 racing pigeons during an allotment break-in in Northumberland.

They also stole 12 young birds from the shed at Choppington Lane allotments overnight on 12 April.

The stolen birds have bright green tags or rings around one of their feet with the words "Up North Combine" written on them.

Each tag also has a unique reference number. Northumbria police are appealing for information.
