A new 10km run taking place in Sunderland will raise money for the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.

The Nissan Run For Japan will take place on Sunday, 29 May at 1000 BST and is open to runners of all abilities.

The route will cover two laps of traffic-free roads around the plant.

The Run For Japan is the second 10km run to be announced this year on Wearside, with the inaugural Sunderland City 10k to take place on Sunday 26 June 2011.

An electric Nissan LEAF will be used as a pace car.

The entry fee of £10 will be passed on to the Red Cross appeal.
