County Durham Car death woman became ill at wheel

An elderly woman who died after the car she was driving crashed into a house on the outskirts of Durham City, had become ill at the wheel, tests showed.

Mary Robinson, 70, from High Pittington, died when she lost control of her Vauxhall Meriva on 28 April.

The vehicle crashed into a house on Broomside Lane in Belmont. No-one else was reported hurt.

Police said a post-mortem examination showed Mrs Robinson died of natural causes after becoming ill at the wheel.
