Man attacked by group of youths in Newcastle

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital after being attacked by a group of youths in Newcastle.

The man was treated for gashes to his leg and ear at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The incident happened on Hazeldene Avenue, Kenton, in the early hours of Sunday.

About one hour later in Dorrington Road, Fawdon, a group of youths damaged a car. Police believe the two incidents are linked.
