Police have issued a CCTV image of a bungling suspect as he climbed up a pole at a Northumberland boatyard before disabling the camera.

Northumbria Police released the image after a dinghy was stolen from the Factory Point premises in Blyth.

Two men were reportedly seen in the area at the time of the theft on 19 June. Although the boat was eventually recovered the men are being sought.

Police have urged the man pictured or any witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesman said the CCTV camera was damaged during the incident.

He said: "These two men have broken into the boatyard with the intention of stealing a boat in order to avoid the long walk round to North Blyth.

"Although the dinghy they stole was recovered, they have still committed an offence by breaking into the yard and by taking the boat."
