Girl, 17, arrested over Newcastle street attack

A 17-year-old girl has been arrested after a man was found with multiple injuries in a Newcastle street.

The 21-year-old man was discovered by police on patrol in the Carrfield Road area of Kenton early on Sunday.

Northumbria Police said he had a number of puncture wounds to his chest and cuts to his arm believed to have been caused by a broken bottle.

The girl was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The victim remains in hospital.

A force spokesman said the man's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
