New £20m Ashington leisure and library complex proposed
Plans for a new £20m leisure and library complex in a Northumberland town have been unveiled.
The county council is considering a number of options including refurbishing the current site at Institute Road, Ashington, or building a new community facility.
Possible sites for a new building include in the town centre or on the former hospital or learning park sites.
Plans for the complex include a pool, fitness studio and computer suite.
Councillors are also considering other sites for the project, including the Northumberland Church of England Academy main campus or council-owned land next to the Hirst Welfare site.
The council plans to hold a public consultation on the development in the autumn.
