Sewer upgrade to tackle Whitley Bay flooding risk

Essential work to reduce the likelihood of flooding in a North Tyneside seaside town will begin next month.

Northumbrian Water is to upgrade its sewer network in Whitley Bay, at a cost of £190,000.

The work will involve upgrading 130m of sewer pipe in the Rockcliffe Gardens and Rockcliffe Park areas.

The work begins on 5 September and will take four months. Traffic will at times be disrupted and the water firm apologised for any inconvenience.
