Seaham sex attack police appeal for man

Detectives are trying to trace a man in connection with a sexual assault in County Durham.

The man sexually assaulted the victim at about 11:30 BST on Wednesday, 24 August at the underpass beneath Tempest Road in Seaham.

The man, in his late 40s to early 50s, grabbed the woman's left arm, verbally abused her and indecently assaulted her.

Police are keen to trace two teenage boys who helped chase away the man.

The attacker is described as being white, about 5ft 9in tall (1.75m), of average build with a nose which was twisted to the left.

He had slight stubble, spoke with a local accent, was wearing a grey/blue shirt and had medium length dark hair which covered his ears.
