Son charged with murder of missing man Francis Willis

Police investigating the disappearance of an 85-year-old man from Gateshead have charged his son with murder.

On Wednesday, Northumbria Police appealed for help to trace Francis Willis, from Staindrop, Leam Lane Estate.

Francis Willis, 62, of Carr Hill, Gateshead, has been charged with murder, police said. He is due before Gateshead magistrates on Friday.

Police said they were still searching for the 85-year-old's body.

They believed he had been missing from home from the week beginning 15 August.
