A teenager from Newcastle has been charged with murdering a 20-year-old man who was found stabbed in the head.

The body of Cole Wilson was discovered in the living room of a house at Sledmere Close, Peterlee, County Durham, in the early hours of Sunday.

John Blackburn, 19, from Walker, will appear before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court later.

Two women, 24 and 20, who were arrested at the house in Sledmere Close, have been released without charge.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Wilson, of Titan House, Newcastle, died from stab wounds to the chest and the side of his head.

A man, 40, and a 41-year-old woman who were arrested at a house in Holywell Avenue, in Walker, on suspicion of assisting an offender were earlier released on police bail until October 20.
