Fancy dress and film costumes under hammer in Newcastle
Fans of theatre and film are to be given the chance to buy hundreds of costumes and props.
This weekend Anderson and Garland auction house in Newcastle is putting more than 600 items under the hammer, some dating from the 1930s.
As well as fancy dress costumes such as Mickey Mouse, the sale includes clothes from films including a jacket used in the 1934 classic the Scarlet Pimpernel.
The items are owned by Bazaar, a hire firm which closed earlier this year.
Julian Thomson, director of Anderson and Garland said: "Whether you are looking for fun costumes, historical pieces or items worn by stars of yesteryear, there is something in this sale for everyone.
"We have a tabard worn by Robert Taylor in the film the Adventures of Quentin Durwood, plus a jacket that Leslie Howard wore in the Scarlet Pimpernel."
Also up for grabs are Roman costumes made for Alexander Korda's ill-fated, I Claudius which almost bankrupted London Film Productions.
The auction is from 10:00 BST on Saturday and bids will also be taken online.
