Morpeth man jailed over Clare Dickman crash death

A man has been jailed after a woman died in a crash in Northumberland.

Claire Dickman, 24, of Eighth Avenue, Morpeth, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Vectra which left the A192 at Barmoor Bank, Morpeth, on 31 March.

Ashley Lawson was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison by the judge at Newcastle Crown Court.

The 23-year-old, from Second Avenue, Morpeth, had earlier pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking.

He was also disqualified from driving for 10 years.
