Thieves steal 70 pigeons from Newcastle allotment

Thieves have left a pigeon owner "distressed" by stealing 70 birds from an allotment in Newcastle.

The birds were taken from a loft at Kenton Road between 17:00 GMT on Saturday, 29 October and 12:30 GMT on Sunday, 30 October.

Northumbria Police's Julie Rana said the owner has suffered a "great financial loss" from the incident.

Anyone with any information, or who is offered any pigeons for sale, is asked to contact the police or Crimestoppers.
