Baby hit by falling plaster at flat in East Howdon

A baby girl was hurt when she was hit by plaster when a ceiling collapsed at a flat in North Tyneside.

The three-month-old suffered a head injury when the front room ceiling caved in at the flat in Chatton Street, Howdon, at 22:20 GMT on Wednesday.

Paramedics and firefighters were called and the baby was given first aid to remove soot and plaster from her nose.

A Tyne and Wear fire brigade spokesman said her head injury was slight but she was taken to hospital as a precaution.
