Guns stolen in County Durham house break-in

Two shotguns and a rifle were stolen during a break-in at a County Durham house.

The legally-held firearms and a "substantial" amount of cash were taken from a house in Hesleden, near Peterlee, on the evening of 3 November.

Durham Police said the intruders broke into the owner's firearms cabinet.

Acting Sgt John Brownhill said: "It is obviously a matter of concern these firearms are now in the hands of criminals."
