A shopkeeper refused to hand over cash after a raider threatened to throw a large hunting knife at him.

The robber, who wore a hood and sunglasses, burst into Premier Foodstore in West Grove, Seaham, County Durham, on Monday evening.

Police have issued CCTV images of the offender in an attempt to catch him.

The 21-year-old man behind the counter was unhurt but left shaken after the knifeman ran off.

The suspect was wearing a dark blue Adidas tracksuit and was of average height and build and had a moustache and goatee beard.
