Two sought over linked Gateshead attempted robberies

Two men who are believed to have carried out three attempted robberies in Gateshead are being sought by detectives.

On Thursday a driver was stopped by a man standing in Coatsworth Road. Another tried to open a door and then hit the roof with a piece of wood.

Later there was an attempted robbery at a Claremont South Avenue store carried out by two men, one armed with a stick.

Soon after two people got into a man's car at Gateshead Stadium metro station.

They demanded his car keys and wallet, and chased him when he ran off.

The three incidents happened between 18:00 and 19:25 GMT on Thursday.

In all cases the men were described as about 18 or 19 and between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall.

One was wearing a balaclava and carrying a wooden stick, the other had a cut to his face and was wearing a dark scarf.
