Pedestrian dies after crash in County Durham
A 79-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in County Durham.
The local man was hit by a Toyota Aygo car on a pedestrian crossing on Waldridge road, Chester-le-Street, at about 17:45 GMT on Tuesday.
He was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital Of North Durham with serious head injuries.
He was later transferred to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he died on Wednesday afternoon. The 43-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.
