Two arrests after Sunderland man, 76, hurt in burglary

Two people have been arrested in connection with a burglary on Wearside in which an elderly man was assaulted.

Three men broke into the house in Seaburn on Saturday evening and threatened the occupants.

The 76-year-old man was struck over the head and the men escaped with a large amount of cash.

A man, 38, has now been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, and a 28-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.
