Man charged after Hetton-le-Hole gun report

A 36-year-old man has been charged after police received reports of a man with what was believed to be a gun outside a Wearside pub.

Armed officers were called to outside the Fox and Hounds pub, Hetton-le-Hole, on Friday night.

An item, believed to be an air weapon, was recovered. No-one was hurt.

The man was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He will appear at Sunderland Magistrates Court on Monday.
