Newcastle United footballer Nile Ranger will face separate hearings on assault charges and for allegedly being drunk and disorderly.

The striker, aged 20, will face assault charges at Newcastle Crown Court on 27 February, following a brief hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.

His drunk and disorderly case was adjourned until 21 March.

Mr Ranger was bailed on condition he remains outside central Newcastle between 21:00 07:00 GMT.

He denied two counts of common assault and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at an earlier hearing, following an incident outside a Newcastle bar on 27 August.

He has also denied a charge of being drunk and disorderly during a separate incident on 30 October.

Mr Ranger, of Forest Hall, North Tyneside, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address at Monday's brief hearing.
