Man, 22, killed after Wallsend Metro station attack is named

A 22-year-old man who died from injuries sustained in an attack in a North Tyneside Metro station has been named.

Aivaras Savickas, who was originally from Lithuania but living in Wallsend, suffered head injuries in an assault at Wallsend Metro station on Sunday night.

He died in hospital on Thursday.

Veleus Norkus, 22, of Oakley Street, Northampton, and Thomas Mikalauskas, 21, of Vine Street, Wallsend, have been charged with attempted murder.

They remain in police custody and are due to appear before Newcastle Crown Court next month.
