Work begins on new £6.5m Durham primary school
Work has begun on a new £6.5m primary school in Durham which will open its doors to pupils in 2013.
Greenland Community Primary School will be a replacement for the current school and will be built on land opposite the war memorial at South Moor.
The school will have places for 360 pupils and will include a multi use games area and community facilities.
Councillor Claire Vasey said it would "provide a much needed facility to raise the profile of the area".
School children joined council officials for the sod cutting ceremony.
