Police have released a picture of a man they want to question after a Cumbrian MP was assaulted on board a train.

John Woodcock, the Labour MP for Barrow, was travelling from Lancaster to Barrow at about 22.30 GMT on Thursday when he was attacked.

The shadow transport minister said he was assaulted after challenging a group of men who made racist and sexual comments.

British Transport Police said it was appealing for witnesses.

Mr Woodcock was not injured in the assault.
