Motorcyclist killed in South Shields collision

A man has died in a three-vehicle crash on South Tyneside.

The collision, which involved two cars and a motorcycle, happened on Lizard Lane in South Shields at 17:35 BST on Tuesday.

The rider of the motorcycle, 49-year-old Philip Young from the South Shields area, was pronounced dead at South Tyneside General Hospital.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Northumbria Police.
