Newcastle police arrest two after teenager raped near hotel

Two men have been arrested after a teenage girl was raped near a Newcastle hotel.

Police said the attack on the 17-year-old happened at the back of the old Assembly Rooms, near the entrance to the Newgate Hotel car park, at 05:00 BST on Sunday.

Two men, aged 24 and 25, were arrested on Monday on suspicion of rape and are in custody, Northumbria Police said.

The victim was found in Fenkle Street by passers-by who contacted police.
