Two teenagers have been charged with the murder of a 25-year-old man on South Tyneside.

David Charlton was fatally stabbed in front of his girlfriend in South Shields on Friday night.

Keith Honeyman, 19, of Alice Street in South Shields, and a 15-year-old male will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on 26 December.

Two other men, aged 31 and 24, charged with assisting an offender, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police said that Mr Charlton was attacked at the junction of Stanhope Road and Boldon Lane while returning home from a night out.
